Energy Efficiency Assessments

We Deliver Objective Results

We are independent auditors and do not work for any contractors nor do we have any interest in selling you a specific type of improvement. We only work for you. Some companies offer this type of assessment for free, but generally they can only afford to do that by selling you on certain types of upgrades that are predetermined as part of their business model.

We focus the audit on areas of the home that you are concerned about, and can gear our assessment to help you identify and resolve the issues specific to you and your home.

What the Comprehensive Assessment Includes

We perform an on site analysis including the following tests:

  • Duct leakage levels
  • Blower door test
  • Comprehensive attic inspection
  • Building envelope leakage inspection (ie: doors, floors, plumbing penetrations, cabinets, & fireplaces)
  • Appliance analysis
  • Lighting analysis
  • Exterior inspection for improvements in solar shading
Afterward you will receive a report detailing the potentials for efficiency improvement, potentials for comfort improvement, return on investment analysis, and rebate consultation.

Once you’ve had a chance to review the results, the auditor will contact you to personally review your report with you. They will explain the data on the report to you and answer any questions you may have about our findings.

Blower Door Test

Determine how much outside or attic air leaks into your home or commercial building. For well-sealed homes and buildings, this test determines whether there is sufficient replacement of the interior air.

Heating and Cooling Air Duct Leakage Test

Determine how much conditioned air that your A/C and heating system’s ducts are leaking. Determines sufficiency of insulation encasing your duct system. As additional option, the inspector can locate the major leaks in your duct system.

External Static Pressure Test

Examine the static pressure across the air handler. Determines the efficiency of the air handler and the duct design.

Flow Hood Test

Examine the airflow from each supply and return grill in the house. Determines the airflow of the system and compares it against what the airflow of the system should be. Measuring a system’s airflow can determine the quality of the its design and how well the entire system distributes air.

Attic Inspection

Examine existing attic insulation and determine quality of the insulation and the installation of that insulation. Look for moisture problems. The home will not be as comfortable and energy costs will be higher if sufficient insulation is not installed or is not installed correctly.
